Real Betis are in negotiations to sign West Ham United’s out-of-favour defensive midfielder Guido Rodriguez.
According to a report from Orgullobiri, Guido Rodriguez could end up parting ways with West Ham United just 12 months after joining them. He could be set for a return to Real Betis, with the club currently in talks to sign him.
Rodriguez made the move to the London club in the last summer transfer window. The Hammers were looking to add more depth and quality in the centre of the park and they decided to raid Betis to sign the Argentine international who had been a consistent performer in the Spanish top flight.
While a lot was expected from the 30-year-old, the move to the Hammers hasn’t gone according to plan for him. He has been involved in 20 matches racking up just over 1,000 minutes of first-team action. He was a regular feature in the XI in the initial phase of the season but seems to have gone down the pecking order in the last few months.
He penned a three-year deal upon his move to London but it seems he could be heading towards the exit door. The 30-year-old has been linked with a move away. While there is a significant amount of interest in the Argentine international, he could be set for a return to Real Betis.
Guido Rodriguez could return to Betis next summer
He was a part of the Spanish club for four seasons after joining them from Club América at the start of 2020. During his time at Betis, the defensive midfielder featured in a total of 173 matches and even contributed towards 13 goals.
He certainly enjoyed his time at the club and is all set for a return after failing to establish himself at West Ham. The player has already expressed his desire to make a return to Heliopolis which is a massive boost for Betis in their pursuit.
The Spanish club have already initiated talks with the London outfit. The transfer fee is expected to be around €3 million, an amount that the Hammers paid last summer to add him to their squad. While the player and Betis are both pushing for this move, it will depend on negotiations with West Ham and the Seville-based club’s financial situation.
