Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are reportedly pushing hard for the signature of 17-year-old Stoke City defensive sensation Jaden Dixon.
According to a report from Football Insider, Arsenal are keen on acquiring the services of Jaden Dixon, and they have already made moves to bring him to the Emirates. The Gunners knocked on the doors of Stoke City during the winter transfer window. While they could not strike a deal mid-season, Mikel Arteta’s team continue to monitor him and will most likely return for him in the summer.
Dixon was initially a part of the Tottenham youth setup, but things did not work out for him at the North London club, and he parted ways with them to join Stoke in the summer of 2023. While he is officially a part of their Under21s, the 17-year-old has broken into the first team.
The teenager has already racked up six appearances for their senior side. While he prefers playing in the heart of the defence, Dixon can feature on either flank when needed. His impressive performances at the youth level for both club and country along with his massive potential have resulted in a lot of interest.
Arsenal keen on signing Dixon
Dixon’s contract at Stoke runs until the summer of 2027, but he might not be around for long as top clubs are pushing for his signature. Arsenal are keen on acquiring his services this year. The Gunners want to add more depth to their backline, and they believe in the 17-year-old’s potential.
The departure of Ayden Heaven to rivals Manchester United has left a massive void. While Heaven only had one first-team appearance, he was an important part of their long-term plans. As a result, Arsenal are pushing to bring in an ideal replacement, and they feel Dixon could be an ideal fit for their project.
The Gunners knocked on the doors of Stoke City on transfer deadline day. While they did enquire about him, things did not go ahead this past winter. They will continue to monitor the English youth international and could push for his signature next summer.
