Brazilian giants Flamengo are interested in acquiring the services of Manchester United midfield star Casemiro.
According to a report from Fichajes, Flamengo are looking to raid Manchester United for the signature of Casemiro. The Brazilian outfit are looking to add more quality to their midfield ahead of the summer’s Club World Cup. They are going after the services of the veteran defensive midfielder who is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
Casemiro was amongst the best defensive midfielder during his time at Real Madrid. He made the move to United in the summer of 2022 and did enjoy a brilliant debut campaign but things have only gone downhill for him since.
He has been very inconsistent over the last few seasons and the arrival of Ruben Amorim hasn’t helped his cause. The 32-year-old has gone way down the pecking order under the Portuguese manager. He has racked up less than 1,500 minutes of first-team action this season and hasn’t been involved in their last five league games.
It is quite clear that he is not an important part of Amorim’s plans. While his contract at Old Trafford runs until the summer of 2026, Casemiro is already considering parting ways with the club. United are also open to his departure because of his massive wages and the fact that their manager no longer counts on him.
Casemiro could return to Brazil next summer
He was linked with a move to AS Roma during the winter window but it didn’t go ahead. Flamengo have emerged as a potential destination for the 32-year-old. The Brazilian club wants to bring in some world-class stars as they look to build a competitive team for the upcoming Club World Cup.
They have already agreed a deal to sign Jorgingo on a free transfer and are now pushing for Casemiro’s signature. Filipe Luis wants to have a top-level midfield and the Premier League can surely help his team.
The Brazilian outfit are already working to sign the Brazilian star in the next transfer window. While he might not have been at his best for a while, they feel his experience could come in handy. Since he is not an important part of United’s first team, Falmengo do fancy their chances of securing his services.
