Al-Nassr failed with two bids to sign Darwin Nunez

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has been linked with a move away from the Merseyside club in the last few months.

As per a report by Give Me Sport, Darwin Nunez was close to leaving Liverpool in the winter transfer window. Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr failed with two offers to sign the South American forward.

Nunez has 11 goal contributions for Liverpool this season and even though he has not been a prolific scorer, he has been a very useful player for them. His ability to influence the game in the final third with his link-up play, movement and runs in behind the defence makes him a valuable asset for the club. The South American striker is a hard-working player who helps out defensively as well.

Liverpool are lacking in depth in the attacking unit, and they cannot afford to lose Darwin Nunez just yet. It is no surprise that the Saudi Arabian outfit failed with two offers to sign him. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to sell him at the end of the season. They need to bring in quality reinforcements before letting the player leave.

Nunez will want to play regularly at this stage of his career, and Liverpool have not been able to provide him with that opportunity. It will be interesting to see if the player decides to seek an exit in the summer. He will want to get his career back on track. Joining another club might be ideal for him next season.

Liverpool need attacking reinforcements

Liverpool need to sign a prolific goalscorer who can find the back of the net regularly. Diogo Jota has been quite injury-prone, and Liverpool have been frustrated with his situation. The Reds need a reliable striker at their disposal. It remains to be seen whether they decide to replace in the summer.

They have a formidable squad at their disposal, and a couple of intelligent additions could take them to a whole new level. A reliable goalscorer will be a top priority for the club heading into the summer window. Star winger Mohammed Salah has been linked with an exit when his contract expires in the summer, and if the Egyptian decides to move on, signing a striker will be even more important for Liverpool. They will need to replace his end product.
