RB Leipzig likely to sell Xavi Simons this summer; Liverpool, Manchester United keen

RB Leipzig will likely seal a permanent move for 21-year-old Dutch playmaker Xavi Simons before selling him for €80 million in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Caught Offside, Xavi Simons will likely complete a permanent move to RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window. The Bundesliga club will cough up €50 million to seal the deal, although they will unlikely keep him at the Red Bull Arena beyond the summer. Meanwhile, Liverpool and Manchester United are keen on signing the Dutch playmaker, who might be available for around €80 million.

Xavi Simons and his intriguing career

Xavi Simons has established himself as one of the best young playmakers in the world in the last few seasons. The Dutchman rose in prominence when he joined Barcelona’s fabled La Masia academy in 2010. However, a lack of first-team opportunities forced him to move to Paris Saint-Germain, where regular game time with the senior squad eluded him.

The 21-year-old finally found his feet when he joined PSV Eindhoven in July 2022. Since then, Simons has been exceptional, making his mark for PSV and RB Leipzig, with PSG re-signing him in July 2023. However, the youngster has not played a game for PSG since returning to Parc des Princes.

The Dutch playmaker has chipped in with five goals and four assists in 18 outings across all competitions thus far this term. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig will likely complete a permanent move for the Netherlands international by coughing up €50 million to secure his services. However, Liverpool and Manchester United will look to prise him away from the Bundesliga club in the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Liverpool’s links with Xavi Simons make sense. The Reds are scouring the market for a productive attacker heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Mohamed Salah’s long-term future. So, the young Dutchman has emerged as a viable target for Liverpool.

As for Manchester United, Ruben Amorim’s system should be a godsend for Simons, considering the Portuguese tactician utilises central attacking midfielders in the final third. So, the 21-year-old Dutchman is an option worth considering.

Caught Offside has claimed that RB Leipzig will likely demand around €80 million if they part ways with the Dutch playmaker in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool and Manchester United are ready to cough up €80 million to sign the Netherlands international this summer.
