Arsenal and Tottenham could move for Ferran Torres in summer

Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly considering a summer move for Barcelona winger Ferran Torres to strengthen their attack.

According to Marca via Sport Witness, Ferran Torres is a reported target for north London giants Arsenal and Tottenham in the summer. The winger was a subject of speculation during January as Barcelona decided against selling the Spanish international with 48 caps for his country.

Arsenal has long admired Ferran Torres under Mikel Arteta’s management. The Gunners boss knows the Spaniard from their brief time together at Manchester City and has since tried to sign him for his club on more than one occasion.

Arsenal reportedly failed to make a move in January, as Arteta was trying hard to get an attacker in the squad following injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka. In theory, Torres would have been a direct replacement for the latter, as it appears Barcelona had no intention of selling.

The Gunners could revive their interest in the summer, although their main priority is getting a central striker and left winger. Nico Williams is being linked again ahead of the summer window, as Torres could be viewed as a cover for Saka next summer.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are also angling for a move for Torres next summer and could test Barcelona with an offer for the Spaniard with 48 international caps. Spurs are eager to strengthen their attacking setup in the wide areas with the addition of the 24-year-old Barcelona star, although much will depend on whether they are in any European competition next season.

Barcelona were unwilling to sell Torres in January

Tottenham might have kept tabs on the situation with the 24-year-old Barcelona star, as they might consider an attempt next summer. The report highlights how the Catalans refused to sell the winger despite multiple enquiries for his signature in January.

Apart from Arsenal’s reported interest, Napoli was also keen to bring him as a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but failed. AC Milan were enthusiastic, as they signed Joao Felix following Barcelona’s disinterest in selling Torres. Should they get a favourable offer for the Spaniard in the summer, the Catalans might consider selling him since he’s not an automatic starter under Hansi Flick.
