West Ham United set to sign Arthur Cabral

West Ham United are set to to sign Arthur Cabral for €18 million plus bonuses in the coming period as Graham Potter finds a solution to his striker problem.

According to Record, West Ham United are on the verge of agreeing on a deal with Benfica for Arthur Cabral. The striker is set to cost €18 million plus a further €2 million in bonuses as Graham Potter seeks a solution to his striker problem.

West Ham United have been looking for a new striker ever since the transfer window opened this month but without any real success. There are plenty of issues in the No.9 position, notably due to the serious road accident suffered by Michail Antonio and the big hamstring injury for Niclas Fullkrug.

Both those strikers are set to be out for the foreseeable future, leaving only Danny Ings as the club’s recognised centre-forward. While Jarrod Bowen can play a role there, his powers are better utilised on the wings, as Graham Potter has been looking for a new striker.

West Ham failed with a bid for Jhon Duran, while there;’s big uncertainty about a prospective loan signing of Evan Ferguson. The Brighton man’s future remains unclear, which could yet be decided in the dying hours of the transfer window.

Meanwhile, the Hammers have moved on from those preferred targets to sign a player that comes close to suiting Potter’s style. They are now on the verge of signing Brazilian attacker Arthur Cabral from Benfica in a deal with €18 million plus €2 million in bonuses.

West Ham to sign Arthur Cabral

West Ham are on the verge of agreeing on a deal with Benfica for Arthur Cabral and solving their striker issue. The Brazilian attacker was the subject of big interest from the MLS as Atalanta United tried to sign him for €16 million plus €2 million in bonuses, although a deal never materialised. Now, the Hammers have tested the Portuguese side with an offer which is likely to be accepted.

Cabral may not be the ideal solution that Potter was seeking in the market, but they are left with no option but to pursue a deal to sort out their striker issue. Whether the Brazilian attacker becomes a success in London remains to be seen, but for the money the Hammers are paying, he might be worth the bet.
