Benfica in talks to sign Tyrell Malacia

Benfica are in talks with Manchester United to take Tyrell Malacia on loan for the remainder of the season, as a deal could be agreed.

According to Record, Manchester United and Benfica are in talks to sign Tyrell Malacia on loan for the remainder of the season. The left-back is free to leave the club on a temporary basis as a bigger decision on his future could be reached in the summer.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is making some fundamental changes to his setup, and using the transfer window to implement those. The Red Devils are set to sign Patrick Dorgu from US Lecce is an indication of the changes on the left side of the pitch.

Dorgu can play the left-wing back role, which has left Tyrell Malacia’ ‘s position untenable. Manchester United are keen to send Malacia on loan, and some clubs are lining up a move for the Dutchman. Amorim rates the player but feels he needs regular game time, something he may struggle to get at the club in the remainder of the season.

Malacia has had a long-term injury, which saw him miss the whole season last time out, while he only recently returned to action. There are some clubs interested, with Real Betis being one of those, and now Benfica are in the mix. Incidentally, Manchester United were interested in Benfica’s Alvaro Carreras before they agreed a deal for Dorgu.

Benfica are eager to take Malacia for the remainder of the season and are in talks with Manchester United to get the deal done. The Portuguese side is a good team for the defender, where he could re-invent his game and get back to previous fitness levels.

Benfica move good for Tyrell Malacia

Benfica offer. It was a competitive environment for players, as Malacia could gel with their ideas and get back to his previous best. He will face competition from the likes of Carreras and others but can overcome those challenges to make a mark.

His future will be the subject of further scrutiny next summer, as Manchester United will likely monitor his progress wherever he joins on loan. For now, the 25-year-old Manchester United defender will be thinking about getting on the pitch regularly and then worrying about the future next summer.
