Tottenham are all set to win the race for the signature of Arsenal, Manchester United and Aston Villa target Mathys Tel.
According to a report from L’Équipe, Tottenham have an agreement in place with Bayern Munich for the transfer of Mathys Tel. After long-drawn negotiations, Spurs have agreed to pay around €60 million to sign the French youth international. But, the transfer is far from complete as Tel is still considering moving to North London.
Tel joined the German giants in the summer of 2022 after making a name for himself at Stade Rennais. His impressive performances along with his massive potential attracted Bayern’s interest and they ended up investing in him.
While he has featured in a handful of games for the German club and showcased his abilities, the 19-year-old hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular in their first team. He has been involved in 14 matches so far and has racked up less than 500 minutes.
Tottenham closing in on Tel’s signature
He has reportedly fallen out with Vincent Kompany and is pushing for a move away from the club. Multiple top clubs are aware of his situation and they are looking to make the most out of it.
Tottenham are one of the clubs that are quite keen on adding him to their ranks. They seek more firepower in the final third in an attempt to end their struggles in the Premier League. With quite a few of their stars out injured, Ange Postecoglou is desperate for more quality in attack and the club have been working hard to strike a deal for Tel.
They have finally managed to reach an agreement with Bayern Munich for his transfer. A fee of around €60 million has been agreed upon and now they need to convince Tel about the move to North London. With the player taking his time other clubs have an opportunity to send their proposals.
Premier League rivals to cause problems for Spurs
According to Fabrice Hawkins, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Arsenal are all interested in the youngster and they could cause problems for Spurs who at this point seem to be winning the race.
Following Jhon Duran’s big-money move to Al Nassr, Villa are looking to replace the Colombian with the French youth international. With Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho’s long-term future uncertain, United are looking to invest in the young talent.
Even Arsenal seek to strengthen the flanks and Tel is seen as a great option for the short as well as the long run. Since Tottenham already have an agreement in place with Bayern, other clubs will most likely have to match that bid to stand a chance.
