Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly front runners in the hunt for Stefanos Tzimas, with Aston Villa and Tottenham also in the mix.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Brighton & Hove Albion are leading the chase to sign Stefanos Tzimas in the summer. FC Nuremberg are demanding €25 million plus bonuses for the forward, as there is sufficient interest in the market with Aston Villa and Tottenham very much in the mix.
Stefanos Tzimas has performed exceptionally during his loan spell at FC Nuremberg, scoring 10 times in the 2.Bundesliga this season. While his goals have been helpful, they are nowhere near the top, as this could be another frustrating season for the second-division side in their attempts to make it back to the top flight.
Meanwhile, they are already thinking about taking up the buy option in the loan deal for Tzimas. Nuremberg are reportedly set to pay €18 million to the Greek side PAOK Thessaloniki. However, they are doing so because there’s an attractive market opportunity for the striker, as Nuremberg want €25 million plus bonuses to sell the striker, and they are taking serious consideration to some big interest from the Premier League.
Liverpool were keen earlier, while there was known interest from Manchester United this month itself. However, it apepars that Brighton & Hove Albion are the reported front runners for the chase of the €25 million-rated striker, with Tzimas leaning towards joining them too.
Fabian Hurzelar has also spoken to the striker and this has been key to Tzimas’ choice to take up an offer from the Seagulls. While no deal has been agreed yet, the move will only happen in the summer, depending on how much Brighton are willing to pay up. Nuremberg are unlikely to lower their demands, as they are ready to maximise the player’s value and the fact that they are paying €18 million to sign him permanently.
Tottenham and Aston Villa are chasing Tzimas
While Brighton are the current front runners in the hunt, they are facing big competition from the likes of Tottenham and Aston Villa. The north Londoners are in the market for a new striker, as they have held talks for Yoanne Wissa, while reports are linking them heavily to Mathys Tel. They could see Tzimas as a big option for thefuture, and they do have the financial muscle to compete with Brighton.
Aston Villa are likely to press for a new forward next summer after the surprise sale of Jhon Duran, while Ollie Watkins is also attracting big interest from Arsenal. They could consider the Nuremberg forward as an option, but they might not pay over the odds for him, which could give Brighton a slight advantage in the race.
