West Ham United have turned down a €15 million offer from Shakhtar Donetsk for the services of Luis Guilherme.
Shakhtar Donetsk were keen on signing Luis Guilherme in an attempt to bolster their attack and they tabled an offer worth €15 million. But, according to a report from UOL, West Ham United have turned down the offer from the Ukrainian giants.
The Hammers are in a tough spot, urgently needing reinforcements after a poor first half of the season and an injury crisis in attack. While they have brought in Graham Potter to help steady the ship, they do need to bring in a few players to help him get things under control.
With Michail Antonio recovering from a serious car accident and Niclas Füllkrug joining him on the sidelines, West Ham only have Danny Ings as an out-and-out number nine. They want to bring in a new top-level forward but will have to part ways with someone from their squad to make room and raise funds.
They are reportedly ready to part ways with Luis Guilherme as he hasn’t really got going since moving to London. The teenage attacking sensational who came up the ranks at Palmeiras made the move to the Hammers last summer.
While he has massive potential, things haven’t clicked for him at West Ham as he has only featured in six first-team games racking up a total of just 50 minutes. The Hammers are looking to move him on as they are in desperate need of funds to help bolster their attack.
Shakhtar Donetsk’s offer wasn’t good enough
Shakhtar Donetsk have emerged as a potential destination for the young winger. The Ukrainian giants want more firepower on the flanks and they consider Luis Guilherme to be a great investment for the long run. While Neymar’s former club Al-Hilal were also keen on his signature, they eventually decided against making a move.
But, the Ukrainian did make a move to sign the youngster. They submitted a €15 million offer which was turned down by the English outfit as they consider it to be a touch too low. Having invested €30 million (€23 million as fixed fee and another €7 million as bonuses) to bring him to London, the Hammers want to recoup a significant portion and they won’t let him go on the cheap.
