West Ham United have reportedly submitted an enquiry over a possible move to sign 23-year-old Italian midfielder Nicolo Fagioli from Serie A club Juventus.
According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Nicolo Fagioli is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers have been scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the winter transfer window. So, the Juventus midfielder has emerged as a target, with the East London outfit approaching the Serie A club to ask about the 23-year-old.
Nicolo Fagioli and his struggles
Nicolo Fagioli has endured a topsy-turvy ride since breaking into the first-team squad at Juventus. A native of Piacenza, the youngster has been with the Bianconeri since July 2015, arriving from Cremonese before rising through the ranks in the youth division at the Serie A club.
The 23-year-old has been in and out of the starting lineup since making his first-team bow for Juventus. In addition, the young midfielder spent multiple months on the sidelines after violating betting rules. Game time has come at a premium for Fagioli since returning from his sanction.
The Italian midfielder has managed only 773 minutes of game time across 22 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with one assist. However, Fagioli’s stock in the market remains high, with several well-known clubs setting their sights on him. Premier League clubs, in particular, are keen, with West Ham United among the prospective suitors for his signature.

West Ham United’s interest in Nicolo Fagioli is understandable. While Graham Potter has a stacked midfield unit, several players have blown hot and cold in the last 18 months. So, West Ham can do with a new midfielder in the winter transfer window.
Recent reports have linked the East London club with several midfielders, including Rodrigo De Paul. However, Fagioli is also a viable target for West Ham United, with the Hammers submitting an enquiry over a possible move for the 23-year-old midfielder.
However, West Ham United will not be alone in the race to secure Fagioli’s services. The report has also named Fiorentina, Napoli, and Marseille as his prospective suitors. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the Italian midfielder.
