Juventus, Napoli vying for Rasmus Hojlund, Manchester United could sell player

Serie A giants Juventus and Napoli are reportedly interested in signing 21-year-old Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United.

According to a report by talkSPORT, a return to Serie A might be on the cards for Rasmus Hojlund. The Manchester United striker has endured a dreadful 2024/25 campaign but remains in demand in the market, with Juventus and Napoli keen on signing him. The Red Devils might cash in on the Danish international in the summer transfer window.

Rasmus Hojlund and his Manchester United rollercoaster

Rasmus Hojlund has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Manchester United from Atalanta in a deal worth £72 million in August 2023. The Dane arrived at Old Trafford with a burgeoning reputation after a promising stint with La Dea between August 2022 and August 2023.

While the 21-year-old enjoyed a solid debut campaign with Manchester United, he has barely made his mark this term and experienced the dreaded “second season syndrome”. Hojlund has managed only seven goals and one assist in 28 appearances across all competitions, with just two strikes coming in the Premier League.

However, that has not affected Hojlund’s stock in the market, with several well-known clubs across Europe setting their sights on him. A return to Serie A might be on the cards, with Juventus and Napoli vying for his signature. Meanwhile, Manchester United might part ways with the Danish international in the summer transfer window if he does not improve.

Serie A return on the horizon?

Juventus’s interest in Rasmus Hojlund makes sense. The Serie A giants are scouring the market for a striker ahead of the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Dusan Vlahovic’s long-term future. While Randal Kolo Muani made his mark in his debut outing for Juventus, the Bianconeri can do with another centre-forward.

Meanwhile, it is unclear why Napoli might pursue Hojlund in the summer transfer window. Romelu Lukaku has been a top-notch addition to the Serie A outfit’s squad. Nevertheless, the Manchester United striker is a target for the Partenopei, with the Dane a long-term option for the club.

It is unclear how much Manchester United will demand to part ways with the 21-year-old Danish international if Juventus and Napoli come calling in the summer transfer window. However, it will not be surprising if the Red Devils fail to recoup the £72 million they paid to sign him 18 months ago.
