Liverpool are plotting a raid on Inter Milan to sign their star duo, Denzel Dumfries and Marcus Thuram, in a deal worth £100 million.
Liverpool are doing wonders on the pitch under their new boss Arne Slot. They are top of the Premier League and have already made it to the knockout stages of the Champions League having won all of their league fixtures.
While everything seems to be going according to plan, a lot can change at Anfield next summer as contract of some of their key stars are running out. As a result, they are looking to prepare for life without them. According to a report from InterLive, the Reds are plotting a raid on Inter Milan to reinforce their squad. They have their eyes set on Denzel Dumfries and Marcus Thuram.
Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold could all leave Anfield at the end of the season. While the Reds are working hard to extend their contracts, things don’t look that bright for them. There is optimism around Van Dijk’s future but Salah and Alexander-Arnold could indeed leave them on a free transfer.
Liverpool are looking to offer the Egyptian a one-year deal with an option for another while he is looking for a three-year deal. As far as the English full-back is concerned, he already seems to have an agreement in place with Real Madrid regarding a free transfer.
Liverpool want to sign Inter duo
In order to replace the duo, Liverpool are looking at Denzel Dumfries and Marcus Thuram who have been consistent performers for Inter Milan. While the Italian outfit are not in any need to raise funds, they are always open to negotiating the departure of their stars for the right price.
The Reds are looking at Dumfries as an ideal replacement for Alexander-Arnold while Thuram could help them cope with Salah’s potential departure. The French striker has a release clause in his contract that could be triggered but they might have to meet Inter’s demands to secure the services of Dumfries.
The Merseyside club are looking to table an offer worth £100 million for the duo and it will be interesting to see if Inter are willing to sell two of their key figures who helped them win the Serie A last season for that fee. With both player’s contracts running until the summer of 2028, the Italian giants hold all the keys.
