Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are close to agreeing a new deal with their teenager defensive sensation Myles Lewis-Skelly.
According to a report from TBR, Myles Lewis-Skelly is all set to pen a new long-term deal at Arsenal after enjoying a breakthrough campaign under Mikel Arteta. His exceptional rise has caught a lot of attention and the Gunners are working hard to secure his long-term future.
Lewis-Skelly has been a part of the Arsenal setup since his childhood days. He went up the ranks at some pace and was regarded as one of the best young talents at Hale End Academy. As a result, Arteta decided to make him a part of pre-season.
After impressing the Spanish manager, the 18-year-old got promoted to the first team before the start of the season. The midfielder-turned-full-back is certainly enjoying life at the highest level. He has featured in a total of 17 games for the Gunners and has made quite an impression on everyone at the club.
A new deal for Lewis-Skelly
While he was controversially sent off during their win over Wolves, Lewis-Skelly has done a wonderful job so far and there is a new contract being prepared for him. He penned his first professional contract last year when he turned 18 and having cemented his spot in Arteta’s squad, the club are looking to reward him with a new deal.
They are looking to offer him fresh terms and as per the report, he is all set to sign a new long-term deal. Both parties have already negotiated terms and seem to have found a common ground. They are looking to announce the deal in the coming weeks.
Lewis-Skelly certainly seems to have a bright future ahead. He is already an important squad player and could eventually become one of the mainstays in the team. His ability to feature as a full-back as well as in the centre of the park could come in handy for Arteta. England boss Thomas Tuchel is quite impressed by his performances and could soon hand him his first senior call-up.
