Manchester United are reportedly tracking the progress of 22-year-old French midfield prospect Lucien Agoume at La Liga club Sevilla.
According to a report by Caught Offside, Lucien Agoume is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a top-notch midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the Sevilla prospect. The French midfield prospect does not have a release clause in his deal with the Andalusian outfit.
The rising stock of Lucien Agoume
Lucien Agoume has established himself as one of the best young prospects in La Liga since joining Sevilla from Inter Milan. The Andalusian outfit initially signed the Cameroon-born Frenchman on loan in January 2024 before completing a permanent deal in the subsequent summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old has become a regular in the middle of the park for Sevilla, although he is not an undisputed first-choice starter for Los Nervionenses. Agoume has amassed nearly 2,000 minutes of game time across 34 appearances thus far in 12 months with the Andalusian outfit.
Meanwhile, the French midfield prospect has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs with his exploits for Sevilla. Recent reports have linked the youngster with Arsenal and Barcelona, with Manchester United joining the race to secure his services.
Premier League adventure beckons?
Manchester United’s interest in Lucien Agoume is understandable. The Red Devils have been scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the winter transfer window, although a deal will likely see the light of day in the summer. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen face an uncertain future at Old Trafford, with Manchester United poised to part ways with the duo in one of the two windows this year.
The veteran midfielders’ departure will leave Ruben Amorim with Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo, and the young and untested Toby Collyer as the only midfielders in his squad. So, several candidates, including Joao Gomes, have emerged on Manchester United’s radar. However, Agoume is also a viable target for the Premier League heavyweights.
The 22-year-old French international can also play as a centre-back, making him an attractive target for Manchester United. Meanwhile, the youngster does not have a release clause in his deal with La Liga club Sevilla. However, a deal will not see the light of day before the summer transfer window.
