Serie A giants Napoli have reportedly joined the race to secure the services of 25-year-old Liverpool attacker Darwin Nunez in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Darwin Nunez is the subject of interest from Napoli. The Serie A title contenders have been scouring the market for a versatile attacker in the last few weeks after losing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the winter transfer window. So, the Liverpool forward has emerged as a target for the Partenopei.
Darwin Nunez has blown hot and cold since joining Liverpool from SL Benfica in a big-money deal in July 2022. The South American striker’s stock skyrocketed during his fruitful spell with Benfica. However, he has not lived up to the billing during his spell with Liverpool.
While the 25-year-old attacker has shown flashes of brilliance in the last two and a half years, he has not been consistent enough to establish himself as an undisputed first-choice starter for Liverpool. Nunez’s struggles have exponentially increased under Arne Slot, as he managed only 1,493 minutes of game time across 28 appearances in all competitions.
The Uruguayan international has contributed to ten goals in his limites game time, finding the back of the net six times and providing four assists. Meanwhile, Nunez’s stock in the market remains high, with several well-known clubs across Europe vying for his signature. Napoli will look to sign him from Liverpool before the winter transfer window shuts down.
Napoli’s interest in Darwin Nunez makes sense.
