Villarreal keen on Federico Chiesa

Federico Chiesa could be on the move as Villarreal are ready to make a loan push for the 2024 Liverpool signing.

According to Fichajes, Villarreal are pursuing a loan deal for Federico Chiesa before the January window shuts, as the La Liga side wants the Italian to aid their push for the top four. Liverpool may allow a departure for the Italian international, who has suffered from a lack of regular minutes at Anfield.

Federico Chiesa seems more and more like a panic buy of sorts, although Liverpool did not need to strengthen in his position. Last summer, the Reds desperately needed a defensive midfielder in their ranks and failed in their pursuit of Martin Zubimendi while they never chased an alternative. ‘

Chiesa arrived in a modest deal from Juventus as he had already entered the final year of his contract there, and new manager Thiago Motta left him out of his plans for the current season. While he came to Anfield with a big reputation, the winger has not been able to showcase his talent so far.

For starters, he had some injury issues since the time he arrived at Liverpool and has then struggled to dislodge the attackers in front of him in the pecking order. In any case, he has had modest minutes, most of them from the bench, which may have made him consider his time at the club.

There are a host of Serie A sides chasing Chiesa’s signature, as Liverpool could contemplate sending him out on loan or even sell himpermanentely. In any case, their asking price is yet to be made clear, as Villarreal are the latest in the race to show an interest in the 2024 Liverpool signing.

Villarreal keen on Federico Chiesa

Villarreal wanted Antony this month, although the winger looked closer to joining Real Betis and has joined the Seville club. The La Liga risers are keen to bolster their attacking setup before the end of the January window and want Chiesa to come here on loan.

Villarreal could make a loan approach in the coming days as they feel a player like the 2024 Liverpool signing could bolster their attack and help push for a top-four finish. Whether the Italian feels the La Liga side are the step in the right direction remains to be seen, as Chiesa might essentially prefer a switch back to Serie A over an experiment in Spain.
