Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr are all set to rival PSG in the race to the signature of Aston Villa attacking sensation Jhon Duran.
According to Santi Aouna, Al-Nassr have entered the race for the services of Jhon Duran and they are all set to battle it out with Paris Saint-Germain who are close to agreeing terms with the player’s entourage. The Suadi giants’ interest in the Aston Villa ace could complicate things for the French giants.
Duran made a name for himself while playing in the Major League Soccer. The Colombian international’s impressive performances in America helped him secure a move to the Premier League at the start of 2023.
While the going wasn’t really that easy for him at the start, the 21-year-old has gone from strength to strength since arriving in England. He has adjusted well to Unai Emery’s demands and has been a key part of their first team this season.
Duran might not be a regular starter at Villa but he has made quite a name for himself with exceptional performances. He has 12 goals in just over 1,000 minutes of first-team football. His incredible run in front of the goal has placed him on the radar of multiple top clubs.
PSG will have to battle Al-Nassr for Duran
PSG are one of the clubs that are interested in signing the Colombian international as they look to further bolster their attack. The French outfit have already added Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to their squad to bolster the left flank and with Randal Kolo Muani joining Juventus, they are looking to add a new striker to the mix.
Duran has been one of their top targets for a while and they have been working on a potential transfer for some time. PSG submitted a verbal offer worth €75 million for the 21-year-old but it was turned down by the Premier League outfit. While they might not have struck a deal with Villa, the Ligue 1 giants were close to racing an agreement with the player’s entourage.
PSG did look like front-runners but they now have a new challenge in the race to his signature. Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al-Nassr are looking for more firepower and they have entered the race for Duran. They have the financial power to make things difficult for the French club. The player is tempted by the opportunity to move to the Middle East. As a result, it will be interesting to see how things pan out from here on.
