Tottenham were looking to sign Bayern Munich shot-stopper Daniel Peretz in the ongoing window but the player has turned down the move.
According to SportBILD via SportWitness, Tottenham were keen on signing Daniel Peretz from Bayern Munich on a short-term loan deal. While the North London club were pushing hard for his signature, the player turned down the opportunity to join Spurs as he wanted to continue at the German club until the end of the season.
Peretz’s take on his future
While speaking on Sport BILD regarding his immediate future, the Israeli international said: “I had a few discussions and offers to be loaned out until the end of the season,”
“There was interest. Of course it’s good to gain match practice. I spoke to my family and my advisors and decided to stay until the end of the season. I really like the club, the team. We have something special here.”
After coming up with the ranks at Maccabi Tel Aviv and making a name for himself while playing for their first team, Peretz made the move to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth €5 million.
The 24-year-old was well aware of the fact that he would only have a limited amount of first-team action at the German club with Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich ahead of him in the pecking order. So far he has featured in a total of seven games for the senior side with five of those outings coming in the ongoing season.
The lack of game time and his importance in the team suggested that he could be available for a transfer in the ongoing window, a loan deal looked like a high possibility. Multiple clubs were interested in his signature and Tottenham were one of them.
Tottenham failed with an attempt to sign Peretz
The North London wanted to reinforce the goalkeeping position after Fraser Forster failed to be an ideal cover for the injured Guglielmo Vicario. They were looking for someone who could provide cover as well as compete with the Italian shot-stopper for a place in the team.
Spurs were looking at Peretz as an ideal fit for their team. Despite only making a limited amount of first-team appearances for Bayern, the North London club were confident that he could help their cause. They were looking to secure his services on a temporary basis.
But, the player completely turned down any idea of leaving Bayern mid-season. The 24-year-old’s decision might have played a big part in Tottenham signing Antonín Kinský at the beginning of the month.
