Premier League heavyweights Arsenal have reportedly submitted an initial enquiry over a possible mid-season move for 21-year-old RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.
According to a report by talkSPORT, Benjamin Sesko is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners have been scouring the market for a striker heading into the winter transfer window and have set their sights on the RB Leipzig striker. The Slovenian international can leave the Bundesliga club for around £70 million, with the North London club submitting a tentative enquiry for him.
The rise and rise of Benjamin Sesko
Benjamin Sesko has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga since joining RB Leipzig from sister club Red Bull Salzburg in July 2023. The youngster might not have been the undisputed first-choice striker for the Bundesliga club, but he has progressed considerably in the last 18 months.
The 21-year-old has been excellent thus far this term, contributing to 17 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions. Sesko has found the back of the net 14 times while providing three assists, amassing nearly 2,000 minutes of game time.
The Slovenian international has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe with his exploits for RB Leipzig. A move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Arsenal among his prospective suitors in the winter transfer window.
London calling?
Arsenal’s interest in Benjamin Sesko is understandable. The Gunners have been combing through the market for a striker heading into the winter transfer window, as Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have blown hot and cold this season. In addition, the former might have played his final game of the 2024/25 season after picking up a knee injury against Manchester United in the FA Cup third round.
So, Arsenal should invest in a striker in the winter transfer window, with Sesko emerging as a viable target. The Gunners have submitted a preliminary enquiry over a possible move for the highly-rated RB Leipzig striker, who can leave the Bundesliga club for around £70 million.
However, a mid-season move might not see the light of day, with RB Leipzig eager to keep hold of the 21-year-old Slovenian international until the end of the 2024/25 season. So, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal can seal a winter deal for the young centre-forward.
