Arsenal confident they have funds to sign Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal reportedly have the funds to make a move for Benjamin Sesko, although the move is more complicated than thought.

According to Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Arsenal have the necessary fiunds to make a deal for Benjamin Sesko this month. The Gunners have been linked with a Slovenian attacker for this month, although any deal will be complicated, while a £59.2 million price point is being mentioned in the report.

Arsenal are considering bringing an attacker or two before the end of the current transfer window. Mikel Arteta’s squad are bereft of attacking options following the serious injuries sustained by Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus. While the former is expected to make a return in March, the Brazilian has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign with an ACL rupture.

With a packed fixture list in January, Arteta has overused his forwards, specifically Kai Havertz and needs immediate reinforcements to bolster his squad. The idea might revolve around bringing at least one new attacker, and if the conditions are favourable, Arsenal could sign two.

Matheus Cunha is a big target, and as per the latest on the attacker, he has not signed a new deal at Wolves, which has opened the door for Arsenal and other clubs to make a move. Benjamin Sesko is the other name on Arsenal’s list, as the Slovenian was someone the club looked at last summer before he committed to RB Leipzig, with suggestions that both parties had a gentleman’s agreement to let him leave next summer.

Arsenal have maintained good relations with RB Leipzig and respected their decision last summer. They have also maintained touch with Sesko’s camp, although they might have ramped up their interest in the striker during this month owing to their attacking crisis.

Arsenal have the funds to sign Sesko

Arsenal’s chance of paying the reported £59.2 million needed to sign Sesko is high, as the striker would be made available for that price either now or next summer. The main issue here is to convince the forward, having already made a preliminary approach this month to understand the details of any deal.

RB Leipzig feel they still have a big chance to finish in the top four, and Sesko is vital to their plans. While the striker may have had reservations about a move last summer owing to the possibility of a reduced role, he could fit into the current Arsenal setup with ease and regularity. Hence, this is a transfer saga not dominated by the prospects of money, as the Gunners are in a good financial position to pay up what is necessary.
