Napoli are closing in on the signing of Alejandro Garnacho following a meeting with Manchester United with the valuation gap considered minimal.
According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Alejandro Garnacho could be closing in on a switch to Napoli in the coming days. The Serie A club’s director met with the Red Devils in Italy, with suggestions that both parties are only so far apart in their respective valuations of the winger.
Alejandro Granacho’s future has become an even bigger subject of speculation than the Marcus Rashford saga. Manchester United have seemingly opened the door to a sale of the Argentine given the number of clubs making enquiries.
Chelsea had enquired earlier and now they appear to be ready to make a fresh approach to figure out the details of a transfer. Manchester United had reportedly wanted €70 million for the forward, and while they have rejected a bid from Napoli, the Red Devils have seemingly reduced their asking rate to €60 million as per the story.
Napoli’s offer was thought to be in the region of €50 million, which does fall short of Manchester United’s updated asking price. The Serie A side’s sporting director Gianluca Manna reportedly met with Matt Hargreaves in Milan who is the director of football negotiations at the Premier League outfit to discuss a reduction of the asking price.
In any case, the gap in valuations from both clubs is not far apart, as the report speculates a bid of €55 million might do the trick for Napoli. Antonio Conte is desperate to add an attacker to his setup after losing star man Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to PSG earlier this month, as Garnacho is his preferred target.
Alejandro Garnacho is likely to leave Manchester United
Garnacho had reportedly given his green light towards joining Napoli when their interest became apparent, and as things stand, the €60 million-rated Manchester United whizkid is likely to leave the club before the current transfer window shuts.
Napoli still need to make an acceptable offer that Manchester United must accept, although on initial viewing they are closer than anyone else in the race. There’s the evident threat of Chelsea hijacking the move late on, which makes getting a verbal agreement with the player imperative for Napoli even before they finalise the fee with the Red Devils.
