West Ham United bid of around £60 million rejected for Jhon Duran

West Ham United have failed with a second bid worth £60 million for Jhon Duran, with Aston Villa unlikely to sell the colombian this month.

According to Graeme Bailey, Aston Villa have turned down a second bid from West Ham United for striker Jhon Duran. The Hammers reportedly failed with an offer last week with a fresh proposal worth a reported £60 million, as Aston Villa are uninterested in selling the Colombian striker this month.

Aston Villa are pushing to re-capture a top-four place, and Unai Emery will want to keep hold of all his essential players. That includes star striker Jhon Duran, who may have lost his place again in the starting lineup to the in-form Ollie Watkins but remains a key part of the team for the remainder of the season.

The striker has been attracting much interest over the last six months, with West Ham United failing with few bids back in the summer. Aston Villa have taken Duran off the market despite earlier suggestions, they were open to offers this month.

West Ham reportedly failed with a bid last week, which Graeme Bailey insisted to be in the region of £40 million. The Hammers have now seen a second offer turned down by Aston Villa worth a reported £60 million, as they are uninterested in selling the Colombian striker this month.

The Hammers have done a lot of groundwork on the striker during their pursuit last summer, and hence, they could have an upper hand with the player’s camp. A bid clearly indicates consensus from the player over a move, which might have encouraged the Hammers to put in the offer to test Aston Villa’s resolve.

West Ham United is looking at alternatives

West Ham are intent on bringing in a strike this month following unprecedented problems to their front line. Michail Antonio’s horrific road accident will see him miss the remainder of the season. At the same time, Niclas Fullkrug’s hamstring problem will keep the German out of action for many months, thus leaving Graham Potter to rely on Danny Ings as his only recognised striker.

The Hammers are interested in Evan Ferguson, although the Irish forward could only move on loan this month as he seeks regular game time elsewhere. With Aston Villa unlikely to change their stance, West Ham are unlikely to come in with a third bid and instead focus their efforts on landing the Brighton star on loan.
