Tottenham could hijack Manchester United move for Patrick Dorgu

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham could swoop in to derail Manchester United’s pursuit of Danish sensation Patrick Dorgu.

According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Manchester United have held talks to sign versatile US Lecce star Patrick Dorgu. While the Red Devils are pushing hard for his signature, Tottenham are looking to hijack the deal for the Danish international.

Dorgu has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Serie A outfit. The Danish whizkid got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2023 after his loan move from Nordsjaelland was made permanent.

The youngster had made quite a name for himself with his impressive performances and massive potential. His ability to feature in any role on either flank makes him a rare commodity, and quite a few top clubs from across Europe are keen on his signature.

The Red Devils are pushing for Dorgu

Manchester United are one of the clubs that want to incorporate the 20-year-old in their team in the ongoing window. Ruben Amorim is keen on addressing the issue on the left flank. He wants to bring in a new left wing-back amidst Luke Shaw’s consistent fitness concerns.

The Red Devils are looking for someone who can be a perfect fit in the Portuguese manager’s 3-4-3 formation. Patrick Dorgu has been a part of their wishlist from the start because of his ability to contribute on both ends of the pitch.

Since he is equally effective as a winger as well as a full-back, he could do wonders for them as a wing-back. While their focus initially was on other targets, Manchester United have now decided to push hard for the Danish international who could be available for less than £30 million.

Tottenham could hijack Patrick Dorgu from Manchester United

The Red Devils are front-runners at this stage as they have already established contacts with Lecce regarding a potential deal. However, they could face significant competition from Tottenham.

The North London club are also looking to reinforce the flanks and Dorgu’s versatility is one of the major reasons for their interest in him. The 20-year-old is a perfect fit for their project that has focused on signing young stars of late.

Tottenham could look to hijack the deal, and they do have a much better financial situation than Manchester United, who are looking to offload players to make room for the signing of the Lecce sensation.
