Real Betis have an agreement in place with Manchester United to sign their winger Antony on a short-term loan deal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United and Real Betis have a verbal agreement in place for the transfer of Antony. The Brazilian winger is all set to make the move to La Liga on a temporary basis as the loan deal doesn’t include a buy option.
United had forked out a fortune to sign Antony from Ajax back in the summer of 2022. While he was expected to be the next big thing, the 24-year-old hasn’t been able to get going at Old Trafford. He only has 17 goal contributions in his 96 outings for the Red Devils.
He slowly fell out of favour under Erik ten Hag. While the arrival of Ruben Amorim was seen as a fresh opportunity for the young winger, he hasn’t been able to impress the Portuguese manager in the limited chances that he has had.
His contract at Old Trafford runs until the summer of 2027 but United have been trying to get him off their books. Amorim doesn’t consider him an important part of their plans moving ahead. As a result, the Manchester-based giants have been looking for a solution in the market.
Antony to join Betis in the coming days
Real Betis have emerged as a potential destination. The Spanish outfit seeks more firepower and they are willing to bet on Antony despite his poor track record in England. The 24-year-old has the skillset needed to succeed at the highest level and a change in scenery could help his cause.
They have been in negotiations with United for some time now. All parties have reportedly reached a verbal agreement regarding a move in the ongoing window. Final documents are being checked following which the Brazilian will travel to Spain to undergo medical tests at his new club.
The Red Devils have agreed to part ways with him on a temporary basis. They have given the green light to the loan deal despite it not having a buy option. While his United career already looks over, the former Ajax star could have a great opportunity to revive himself at Betis.
