Arne Slot’s Liverpool have no intention of sanctioning the departure of Harvey Elliott amidst interest from Borussia Dortmund.
Harvey Elliott’s future has been the talk of the town of late as he has had limited first-team minutes under Arne Slot. Borussia Dortmund are one of the teams that have been widely linked with the Liverpool midfield star. But, it seems the English youth international is not going to leave Merseyside anytime soon.
According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool have no intention of selling their midfield sensation in the ongoing transfer window or at the end of the season. People at the Merseyside club consider him a key part of their plans moving ahead and will do everything to keep hold of him.
Harvey Elliott made the move to Anfield in the summer of 2019 after making a name for himself by coming up the ranks at Fulham. The Englishman got promoted to Liverpool’s first team in the summer of 2021, and he has been an important squad player ever since.
The 2024/25 season has not really gone according to plan for him as he was out with a broken foot for months and upon his return, the 21-year-old has not been able to break into the starting XI. He is yet to start a league game this season after having started 27 games last season.
He has had less than 250 minutes in his 11 outings this season. His lack of minutes has not gone unnoticed as multiple clubs are keeping a close eye on his situation and could pounce on an opportunity to sign him.
Bundesliga giants unlikely to sign Elliott
Borussia Dortmund are one of the clubs that are interested in the versatile Harvey Elliott, who prefers playing in the centre of the park but can also feature on the flanks. The Bundesliga outfit seek more quality as they look to bounce back in the second half of the season, and the Liverpool playmaker can certainly help their cause.
Brighton & Hove Albion have also been linked with the young midfield star. However, both clubs are unlikely to secure his services as Liverpool have no intentions of selling the 21-year-old Englishman.
Despite the lack of minutes, Slot and the people at the club have full trust in his abilities. They consider Elliott an integral part of the long-term plans. The English playmaker is expected to have more opportunities in the second half of the season as the Reds compete for all major titles.
