Aston Villa advance move to sign Loic Bade

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are close to bolstering their backline by signing Sevilla defensive mainstay Loic Bade.

Aston Villa have been quite active in the ongoing transfer window as Mochi looks to further strengthen Unai Emery’s team. Apart from reinforcing their attack, the Premier League outfit are also looking at ways to strengthen their backline.

Villa have been working on a potential transfer for Loic Bade for some time now and according to a report from TBR, they are in advanced talks with Sevilla to sign the French centre-back who is also on the radar of Liverpool and Newcastle.

Bade made the move to Sevilla at the start of 2023 after a failed loan spell at Nottingham Forest. He impressed during his short loan spell at the Spanish club and they ended up making the move permanent in the summer for just £10.2 million.

The French centre-back has gone from strength to strength over the last 18 months. He has established himself as one of the mainstays at Sevilla and his consistent performances have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.

Liverpool and Newcastle are two English clubs that have been monitoring him for the last 12 months. Eddie Howe’s team seek more depth at the back while the Reds are looking to prepare for life without Virgil van Dijk who is in the twilight of his career.

Aston Villa to win race for Loic Bade

While both clubs are keen on his signature, Aston Villa are the ones who look all set to win the race. Monchi initially wants to bring Oscar Mingueza to Villa Park but he has given up on that idea. Having signed Bade at Sevilla, the Villa chief is now looking to bring him to Birmingham.

Monchi recently travelled to Seville to watch the 24-year-old in action and now they are pushing hard to strike a deal. They are in advanced talks with the Spanish outfit as they look to secure his services in a deal worth £30 million including add-ons.

Villa are looking to make room for the signing of Bade by offloading Diego Carlos and they have reportedly agreed to a £10 million deal with Fenerbahce for the sale of the Brazilian centre-back. This transfer now allows them to push for the signature of the Olympic silver medalist.
