Newcastle United among the leaders to sign Baris Alper Yilmaz

Newcastle United are looking to take the lead in the pursuit of Baris Alper Ylimaz this month, with West Ham United also interested.

According to TBR, Newcastle United are reportedly among the front runners in the race for Baris Alper Yilmaz. The Turkish forward is widely expected to leave Galatasaray this month in search of a bigger challenge. West Ham is also linked with the forward, who could play across the front three positions.

Baris Alper Yilmaz is steadily becoming one of the more established Turkish players. He continued putting in consistent performances for Galatasaray. Back in the summer, many rumours suggested the 24-year-old was ready for a move to the Premier League, but he ended up staying in Turkey.

The forward is now widely expected to depart Galatasaray, with the Turkish giants reportedly demanding around £25 million. At that price, some Premier League sides are interested, with Newcastle United and West Ham among those keen

Yilmaz can play across the frontline, but with Victor Osimhen’s summer arrival, he has been predominantly deployed on the left wing and, at times, on the right. He has 11 goals and one assist across all competitions, which has attracted the interest of Newcastle United, who are looking for a wide attacker.

The Hammers are also intent on signing him, but his qualities enamour them as a centre-forward rather than a winger. West Ham have watched Yilmaz leading to the January window, but they need a striker to lead the line and might prefer a loan move for Evan Ferguson, although Yilmaz is a target if they fail to land the Irish forward.

Are Newcastle United leading the chase for Baris Alper Yilmaz?

Newcastle United are looking for a wide attacker as Miguel Almiron is closing in on a return to the MLS, leaving a gap in the squad. The Magpies are linked with Luiz Henrique, who appears to be an out-and-out right winger compared to Yilmaz, who prefers to come from the left.

In any case, the Magpies also need a centre-forward, as Callum Wilson is nearing the end of his stay at Newcastle. Yilmaz’s idea will likely suit Eddie Howe’s plans for this window, as the Turkish forward, who has scored 12 goals and assisted 12 this season, can prove a handy customer and play across the frontline.
