Kyle Walker-Peters is reportedly available for a knocked-down fee of £5 million, as Everton are interested in the versatile full-back.
According to Football Insider, Southampton are reportedly willing to part ways with Kyle Walker-Peters for a knocked-down price this month. The defender is into the final six months of his deal, as Everton are one of the clubs showing an interest in the 27-year-old Premier League full-back with versatile qualities.
Southampton are one of the favourites to go down from the Premier League this season following an abject campaign so far. The Saints returned to the top flight after a season in the Championship and have fared badly, as they are bottom of the table with only six points on board.
While the bottom three race is rather tight, some may argue that Southampton are really not in the mix for survival. Hence, they might be a bit open to letting some of their players leave with the knowledge that Premier League survival is all but an impossible task right now.
One of them could be versatile defender Kyle Walker-Peters, who is already into the final six months of his deal with the Saints. The 27-year-old Premier League full-back could potentially have the pick of offers next summer to leave on a free transfer, although Southampton are reportedly willing to sell him for a knocked-down price of £5 million this month.
Everton are interested in Walker-Peters as new boss David Moyes wants to recruit fresh faces this month. The Toffees are also in the mix of a relegation fight, but unlike Southampton, they are considered one of the favourites to survive the ordeal. For Moyes, signing someone like the 27-year-old Premier League full-back would make sense, especially for £5 million, as he can use the defender in multiple roles.
Everton want a strong end to the January window
The Toffees are likely to be interested in making an approach for Southampton star Walker-Peters, and they have other requirements across the squad. For instance, there’s a clear need to bring a striker as Galatasaray star Baris Alper Yilmaz is among their targets, while Barcelona loanee Vitor Roquee also features on their shortlist.
Everton are also likely to open talks for Chelsea pair Ben Chilwell and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, as Moyes clearly wants new faces before the end of the month. Should they manage to bring two or three faces this month, the Toffees could potentially have a strong end to the transfer window to boost their chances of staying up in the Premier League.
