Everton are all set to turn down offers for the services of their star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin amidst interest from Newcastle.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future has been a massive talking point as his contract runs out at the end of the season. He has been linked with a move away in the ongoing transfer window but according to a report from Football Insider, Everton have no intentions of sanctioning his departure mid-season.
Calvert-Lewin hasn’t really been at his best of late. In the ongoing season, the 27-year-old striker has only two goals and an assist in his 20 outings. Despite his poor form, there is no shortage of interest in him.
Newcastle United are one of the clubs that have been keeping a close eye on the English striker who could be a free agent in six months. They view Dominic Calvert-Lewin as an ideal replacement for Callum Wilson and are looking to secure his services for free.
Everton ready to risk losing Calvert-Lewin for free
Meanwhile, there are clubs who could look to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a minimal fee in the ongoing transfer window. But, Everton have made their stance quite clear. They do not want to lose out on him at the halfway mark and are willing to risk losing him for nothing.
They will only sell him in the ongoing window if an interested club is willing to table £15 million to open talks. The Toffees are currently 16th on the points table and they are all set to be involved in an intense battle for survival. David Moyes feels Calvert-Lewin could be key to their chances of survival.
Meanwhile, Beto’s future has also been up in the air and Everton will prefer to see the Portuguese leave this month rather than Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The 26-year-old wants to leave the Merseyside club as he seeks regular first-team action.
Everton do not want to lose both their forwards in the ongoing window as they do not want to enter the market for a new number nine at this stage. With the English international rejecting multiple renewal offers, it is almost certain that he will leave for free in the summer. But, the Toffees are still willing to risk it as they look to retain their spot in the English top flight.
