Al Hilal closing in on signing Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk

Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal are closing in on the signing of Liverpool star duo Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

According to a report from Fichajes, Al Hilal are very close to securing the services of Liverpool superstars Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. Both players are all set to join Jorge Jesus’s team upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Salah is enjoying one of his best seasons with Liverpool as he has 21 goals and 17 assists in just 30 outings. His sensational form has played a big part in the Reds’ dominant run in all competitions. While he remains one of the first names on their team sheet under Arne Slot, his future has been uncertain with his contract running out.

Reports suggest Liverpool have been trying hard to extend his stay but Salah has consistently insisted that no progress has been made regarding a new deal. At 32, the Egyptian still seems to be at the peak of his powers. The Reds would love to have him around for a few more seasons but he seems to be heading to the Middle East.

Salah is moving to the Middle East

Al Hilal are keen on incorporating him into their team as they look for their next big star with Neymar’s departure almost as certain. The Saudi outfit forked out a fortune to sign the Brazilian but the transfer hasn’t worked out as he has been out injured for most parts.

They haven’t registered him for the second half of the Saudi Pro League hinting towards a potential departure in the summer when his contract runs out. Al Hilal are looking to replace Neymar by signing Salah on a free transfer and they are also closing in on the signature of his teammate Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk to join Salah at Al Hilal

The Liverpool skipper’s contract is also running out. While multiple reports have suggested that he is close to extending his stay at the Merseyside club, nothing concrete has happened so far. Al Hilal are willing to offer him a lucrative deal to move to the Middle East.

His arrival could add a lot of experience and quality to their backline. The 33-year-old could form a great partnership with Kalidou Koulibaly and help their team take the next step. The duo will not only bolster Al Hilal’s squad, but their arrival will make the Saudi Pro League a more attractive option for other top players.
