Aston Villa set to sign Andres Garcia

Andres Garcia is reportedly set to join Aston Villa, with the West Midlands club securing an agreement with Levante over a move for the 21-year-old Spanish full-back prospect.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Super Deporte, Andres Garcia will be the answer to Aston Villa’s long search for a new right-back. The Villans have secured an agreement with Levante UD over a move for the Spanish full-back prospect, coughing up a base fee of €7 million to land his signature.

Andres Garcia has emerged as a rare highly-rated prospect from Spain’s second division, with his exploits for Levante UD putting him on the map. A native of Valencia, the Spaniard spent his formative years in and around his hometown and graduated from the youth division at Levante UD after joining the club in July 2021.

The 21-year-old broke into the first-team squad at Levante UD in January 2023, and he has gone from strength to strength in the last two years. Garcia has been a mainstay at the back for the Granotes this term, amassing nearly 2,000 minutes of game time across 23 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with three goals and three assists.

Meanwhile, the Spanish full-back prospect’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known outfits across Europe. Aston Villa and Sporting CP have been vying for Garcia’s signature, with both clubs offering a base fee of €7 million. However, the Villans have won the race to secure his services in the winter transfer window.

Aston Villa’s interest in Andres Garcia makes sense. The Villans have been scouring the market for a right-back heading into the winter transfer window as Unai Emery has only one out-and-out option for the position in his squad. While Matty Cash has done well this term, Emery has often used Ezri Konsa as a right-back.

So, Aston Villa needed a new right-back, with Garcia emerging as a viable target. The Spaniard will arrive at Villa Park in the coming days, with the West Midlands club sealing an agreement with Levante over a deal worth €7 million for the highly-rated full-back.
