West Ham United might reportedly look to sign 23-year-old Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz from Fulham in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by The Standard, Rodrigo Muniz is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers have been scouring the market for a striker heading into the winter transfer window. So, they have set their sights on the 23-year-old Fulham centre-forward over a possible move this month. However, West Ham must submit “a substantial offer” to seal the deal.
Who is Rodrigo Muniz?
Rodrigo Muniz has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Fulham from Flamengo in August 2021. A native of São Domingos do Prata, the South American attacker spent his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the youth division at Flamengo.
However, the 23-year-old has been in and out of the starting lineup since arriving in England, and he also spent a season on loan at Middlesbrough. Muniz would have felt he had established himself as the undisputed first-choice striker for Fulham after enjoying his breakthrough in the 2023/24 season.
That stature has gone this term, with Raul Jimenez usurping the Brazilian striker, restricting him to less than 1,000 minutes of game time across 22 appearances in all competitions. However, Muniz’s stock in the market remains high, with West Ham United among his prospective suitors midway through the winter transfer window.
Move across London on the horizon?
West Ham United’s interest in Rodrigo Muniz is understandable. The Hammers have been keen on signing a striker in the winter transfer window after losing Michail Antonio, Niclas Fullkrug, and Jarrod Bowen to long-term issues. That has left Danny Ings as the only out-and-out striker in Graham Potter’s squad.
So, several candidates, including Taiwo Awoniyi, have emerged on West Ham’s radar. However, Muniz is also a viable target, considering his recent experience in the Premier League. The 23-year-old Fulham forward might have a point to prove after struggling for game time throughout the 2024/25 season.
The Hammers initially expressed their interest in Muniz when Julen Lopetegui was at the club. However, signing the 23-year-old Brazilian striker from Fulham will require “a substantial offer” to tempt the West London club to agree to a loan or permanent deal.
