Brexit regulations could put Marcus Rashford transfer in jeopardy

AC Milan and Barcelona target Marcus Rashford’s departure from Manchester United could be impacted by Brexit regulations.

Marcus Rashford’s future has been one of the biggest talking points in English football in recent weeks. The Manchester United graduate seems to have gone down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim and is ready to part ways with his childhood club in search of a more prominent role elsewhere.

The English international is closing in on an exit amidst interest from AC Milan as well as Barcelona. But, according to a report from GiveMeSport, Brexit regulations could put Rashford’s departure in jeopardy.

Rashford to leave United

It was a massive surprise for everyone when the 27-year-old was left out of the United squad for the derby against Manchester City mid-way through December. He hasn’t featured for them since and in an interview, he suggested he was ready for a new challenge away from the club.

Amorim as well as United chiefs seem to be ready to sanction his departure. While there is no shortage of interest in him, AC Milan and Barcelona are the ones leading the race for his signature.

The Catalan giants are big admirers of the English winger and he would be a perfect fit for Hansi Flick’s system. However, they do not have the best financial situation to acquire his services. Only a massive departure can aid their pursuit of Rashford.

Unless the Spanish giants make a late move to hijack the deal, AC Milan are expected to be the most likely destination for the Manchester United winger. The Italian giants have been quite busy in the ongoing window, they are looking at ways to bolster their squad and Rashford is one of their key targets.

Brexit rules could change Rashford’s course

The English international has been in advanced talks ahead of a move to San Siro. While he is keen on joining Milan, he might be forced to continue under Amorim or look for another solution because of the Brexit regulations.

The Italian giants can only sign one Premier League star in the ongoing window because of Serie A rules linked to Brexit. With United Kingdon no longer a part of the European Union, new restrictions are in place on transfers. Milan are keen on signing both Rashford and Kyle Walker but they can only bring one of them.

With the pursuit of the Manchester City star picking up pace and him being available for free, AC Milan surely have a massive call to make. The United winger remains keen on moving to the Rossoneri and his representatives are back in Italy for fresh discussions. But, things are no longer that straightforward following the availability of Walker.
