Aston Villa recently contacted Sevilla regarding a move for 24-year-old French defender Loic Bade in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by French outlet L’Equipe, Loic Bade is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans have been scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the winter transfer window, with the Sevilla star emerging as a target. They have submitted an enquiry over a move for the French defender, who has a release clause worth €50 million in his contract.
Loic Bade and his journey at Sevilla
Loic Bade has come leaps and bounds since joining Sevilla from Stade Rennais. The Andalusian outfit initially signed the Frenchman on loan from the Ligue 1 club in January 2023 before completing a permanent deal in the subsequent summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old has been a mainstay at the back for Sevilla in the last two years, turning out 76 times thus far for Los Nervionenses while chipping in with two goals and two assists. Bade was recently a part of France’s squad at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with the home country winning the silver medal.
Meanwhile, Bade’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. A return to the Premier League might be on the cards for the French defender, with Aston Villa among his prospective suitors in the winter transfer window.
Premier League return on the horizon?
Aston Villa’s interest in Loic Bade makes sense. The Villans have been scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the winter transfer window. Diego Carlos faces an uncertain future at Villa Park, with Aston Villa ready to cash in on him this month. So, the Sevilla defender has emerged as a target for the West Midlands outfit.
The Villans have approached Sevilla over a possible move for the 2024 Olympics silver medalist. Aston Villa enquired about the conditions to sign the 24-year-old Frenchman in the winter transfer window. With Bade having a release clause worth €50 million in his contract, a deal will likely cost a bomb.
It will be interesting to see if Sevilla will point to the release clause of €50 million to part ways with Bade or set a lower asking price. Meanwhile, the French centre-back might feel he has unfinished business in the Premier League after struggling at Nottingham Forest two and a half years ago.
