Renato Veiga approves Borussia Dortmund move, Chelsea yet to respond

Renato Veiga has reportedly agreed to join Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in the winter transfer window, with Chelsea yet to respond.

According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Renato Veiga is the subject of interest from Borussia Dortmund. The Chelsea utility man has approved the move to the Bundesliga club in the winter transfer window. However, the Blues are yet to agree to let the 21-year-old join the Black and Yellows on loan this month.

Renato Veiga and his career at Chelsea so far

Renato Veiga has been a solid performer since joining Chelsea from FC Basel in the summer transfer window. The move surprised many, considering the West London club did not need a player like him. However, the Lisbon native has made his mark whenever he has taken the field this season.

The 21-year-old has amassed over 1,000 minutes of game time across 18 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with two goals and one assist. Meanwhile, despite the lack of game time, Veiga’s stock in the market is high, with several well-known clubs across Europe vying for his signature.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have already failed with an approach to sign the Portuguese utility man in the winter transfer window. However, a move to the Bundesliga might be on the cards, with Borussia Dortmund vying for the signature of the Chelsea utility man.

Bundesliga move on the horizon?

Borussia Dortmund’s interest in Renato Veiga is understandable. The Bundesliga giants have been scouring the market for a versatile defensive heading into the winter transfer window. They need a top-notch centre-back and a left-back this month. So, the Chelsea defender has emerged as a viable target for Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga club’s prospects of signing the 21-year-old have increased, with the player agreeing to join Borussia Dortmund in the winter transfer window. Veiga feels he can play as a centre-back, his favourite position, at Signal Iduna Park. So, he wants to seal a winter loan move to Borussia Dortmund.

Recent reports have suggested that a winter loan exit from Chelsea is possible for Veiga. However, the Blues have yet to approve an agreement with Borussia Dortmund. So, it will be interesting to see if the Portuguese defender moves to the Bundesliga this month.
