Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Tidiam Gomis in the coming days, with the winger set to stay with Caen until the summer.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Tidiam Gomis is close to finalising a move to Aston Villa in the coming days. The 18-year-old French attacking sensation is expected to stay with Caen until the end of the season and then make his move to the Premier League side on a long-term deal.
Aston Villa are planning for the future and using the current transfer window to sign players meant for next season and beyond. Unai Emery does have a competitive squad at his disposal, although there are some changes they would like to make using the market.
For instance, they only signed Jaden Philogene back in the summer but have now chosen to sell him for a profit to Ipswich Town. To replace him and fill a void in the wide areas, Aston Villa are chasing Donyell Malen, with an agreement expected to be stuck in the coming period.
Now, they are targeting another wide attacker, with Caen’s Tidiam Gomis a target for Villa. The 18-year-old French attacking sensation has been impressing in Ligue 2 with Caen, which has attracted the interest of Manchester City.
With his contract due to expire in the summer, he was reportedly available for a fee of around €1.7 million as per a previous report. Aston Villa held talks with Caen over a move, and it appears they have found success, as an agreement looks imminent between the two parties.
Tidiam Gomis to pen a five-year deal with Aston Villa
While Gomis is closing in on the move to Aston Villa, the youngster is expected to stay put at Caen for the remainder of the season and then join the Premier League side for the pre-season campaign. The idea here is to allow the 18-year-old French attacking sensation to keep developing with the Ligue 2 side and then look into his talent before deciding the next outcome.
Gomis will reportedly sign a five-year deal with Aston Villa, meaning the Premier League side has got their hands on one of the promising talents in French football. Staying with his current side will help him keep progressing in his development, although he could be a future star under Emery’s tutelage at Villa.
