Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing 23-year-old Portuguese defender Goncalo Inacio from Sporting CP.
According to a report by A Bola via Sport Witness, Manchester United are now pondering an offer to sign Goncalo Inacio on loan this month with an obligation to complete a permanent move for €40 million in the summer transfer window.
The Portuguese international, who has a €60 million release clause, is highly rated across Europe, and he could prove to be a useful acquisition for the Red Devils. Manchester United signed the Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro last summer, and signing another central defender could complete their defensive unit for the foreseeable future, thus explaining their interest.
Goncalo Inacio has proven his quality with Sporting CP and he has the ability to succeed at Manchester United as well. The 23-year-old has previously played under Ruben Amorim, and he knows the Portuguese tactician’s philosophy. He might be able to settle in quickly and make an instant impact at Old Trafford if he joins the club.
It remains to be seen whether Sporting CP are prepared to send the player out on loan this month. He is an important player for them, and they might not want to weaken their squad midway through the season.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are looking to sign Goncalo Inacio permanently for a fee of around €40 million upon the expiry of his loan deal. The player has a €60 million release clause in his contract, and it will be interesting to see whether the Portuguese outfit are prepared to accept their offer.
Manchester United move could be tempting
Manchester United have reportedly been in contact with Goncalo Inacio’s agent regarding a potential move as well. Convincing the defender to join the club should not be difficult. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and any player would be tempted to join them.
Even though Manchester United are going through a period of rebuilding, they have formidable resources and they could easily challenge for major trophies in the coming seasons. The Portuguese international will certainly fancy the opportunity to play for them. Furthermore, a move to Old Trafford would see him reunite with his former manager Ruben Amorim as well.
