Ernest Nuamah closing in on joining Everton

David Moyes’s Everton are within touching distance of securing the services of Lyon attacking sensation Ernest Nuamah.

Everton are looking to reinforce their attack after a poor first half of the season, and they have their eyes set on Lyon’s Ernest Nuamah. According to a report by Foot Mercato, the Toffees are closing in on securing his signature.

Nuamah was close to a move to the Premier League during the summer transfer window, but it fell apart towards the very end. However, it looks like he could end up moving to England in the ongoing transfer window.

The Ghanaian international joined Lyon in the summer of 2023 on a season-long loan from Belgian club RWD Molenbeek. He had a decent debut campaign with 10 goal contributions in his 39 outings, and the Ligue 1 club triggered the buy option worth €28.5 million.

The failed Fulham move

John Textor was looking to register instant profit by offloading Ernest Nuamah for a high fee to an English club ahead of the 2024/25 season. They were in need of raising funds and were pushing the 21-year-old to join Fulham.

While Nuamah was under immense pressure and everything between the clubs was already agreed upon, the Ghanaian international did not show up for his medical.

While he was not ready to leave Lyon back then, Les Gones are looking to once again sell him, and Everton have emerged as a potential destination for the youngster. The Toffees recently parted ways with Sean Dyche and have replaced him with David Moyes, who is returning to the club after 12 long years.

Everton want to sign Ernest Nuamah

The Merseyside club are looking to give David Moyes enough firepower to ensure he can help them survive the drop. Everton were interested in signing the 21-year-old back in the summer, and they have reignited their interest in him. While the youngster might not have lit up the world this season, he surely has the potential to be a special player.

Everton are very close to acquiring his services as per the report. All parties involved have almost reached an agreement, and Ernest Nuamah will finally have to try his luck in the English top flight. Lyon are struggling financially, and his departure could surely help their cause. But, it remains to be seen if they can recoup what they had invested in the summer.
