Jorginho offered to Palmeiras, talks yet to begin

Intermediaries have reportedly offered 57-cap Italian international Jorginho to Brasileirao Serie A club Palmeiras as his Arsenal career winds down.

According to a report by Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, Jorginho might move to Brazil this year. Intermediaries have offered the 57-cap Italian international to Palmeiras, although the publication does not specify whether it is for a winter move or later this year. Meanwhile, the Brasilieirao Serie A giants are keen on signing Andreas Pereira, and the Arsenal midfielder might become a backup option.

Jorginho has established himself as one of the dependable midfielders in the world in the last decade. The Brazil-born midfielder rose in prominence during his spell with Hellas Verona before seeing his stock skyrocket during his stint with Napoli.

A fruitful yet chaotic spell with Chelsea followed before Arsenal signed him in a cut-price deal in January 2022. The 33-year-old midfielder has been in and out of the starting lineup at the North London club in the last two years, with his stock plummeting in the 2024/25 campaign.

The Italian international has managed only 820 minutes of game time across 17 appearances in all competitions thus far this term, with Mikel Arteta using him as an emergency option. Meanwhile, the veteran midfielder has entered the final six months of his contract and will likely leave Arsenal as a free agent in the summer transfer window if he does not depart from the Emirates this month.
