Omar Marmoush reaches agreement in principle to join Manchester City

Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Omar Marmoush.

Manchester City are looking to reinforce their squad in the ongoing transfer window following a poor first half of the 2024/25 season. Pep Guardiola is looking to add more firepower to his squad, and he has his eyes set on Omar Marmoush.

According to a report from Sky Sports, the Premier League champions have reached an agreement in principle with the Eintracht Frankfurt attacker. The player is keen on moving to England, and Manchester City now have to strike a deal with the Bundesliga outfit.

Manchester City are sixth in the Premier League standings. It has been their worst performance under Pep Guardiola and to get things back on track, they are looking to go big in the winter window.

Guardiola has made Omar Marmoush his top target, and Manchester City have been working on a potential transfer in recent weeks. The 25-year-old Egyptian international has been on fire in the ongoing campaign, and they feel he could help their cause.

With 30 goal contributions (18 goals, 12 assists) in his 24 outings, Marmoush has the second-best record in Europe’s top-five leagues behind Mohamed Salah. His ability to feature anywhere in attack makes him the perfect fit for the Spanish manager’s system.

Manchester City pushing to sign Marmoush in January

Manchester City have already agreed terms with the Egyptian international. With an agreement in principle in place with Omar Marmoush, the Premier League champions are all set to enter into negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt. Talks between the two clubs will start this week, and the opening offer could be submitted as early as this weekend.

The Egyptian international does not have a release clause in his contract and given his importance to their team, the Bundesliga side are looking for €80 million to part ways with him in the ongoing window. However, Manchester City and his representatives consider €50-€60 million to be a more realistic fee for the 25-year-old.

Eintracht Frankfurt may hold the upper hand at this stage, but Manchester City still have a strong chance of securing the Egyptian’s services. Marmoush is actively pushing for the move, fully aware that he is Guardiola’s top choice.
