Newcastle United are reportedly mulling over signing 26-year-old English international Aaron Ramsdale from fellow Premier League club Southampton this month.

The Magpies have been scouring the market for a goalkeeper heading into the winter transfer window as Martin Dubravka closes in on joining Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab. So, the 26-year-old Southampton shot-stopper has emerged as a target for the Tyneside outfit.
Aaron Ramsdale and a topsy-turvy career
Aaron Ramsdale has been a rare bright spot since joining Southampton from Arsenal in a deal worth £25 million in the summer transfer window. While the Englishman has made his mark between the sticks, the Saints have endured a dreadful 2024/25 campaign, which might end in relegation from the Premier League.
So, the 26-year-old has managed only two clean sheets in 14 outings across all competitions thus far this term while conceding 29 goals. However, Ramsdale’s stock in the market remains high, and a move across the Premier League might be on the cards for him.
