Liverpool and Manchester United will compete with Paris Saint-Germain to sign 23-year-old Georgian attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Serie A club Napoli this month.
According to a report by The Athletic, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds are ready to launch the offensive to sign the Napoli attacker if he indicates his desire to part ways with the Serie A club in the winter transfer window.
However, the Merseyside outfit will face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the young forward, with the Ligue 1 champions emerging as the leading contenders to secure his services. Meanwhile, a report by French outlet L’Equipe has suggested that the Napoli attacker is a target for Manchester United, with the Red Devils contemplating a swap deal involving Marcus Rashford.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has established himself as one of the best young attacking prospects in the world since joining Napoli from Dinamo Batumi in July 2022. The 23-year-old was an instant hit at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, and he helped the Partenopei win the Serie A title in his debut season.
However, the Georgian international has blown hot and cold since the start of the 2023/24 season and has managed only five goals and three assists in 19 outings across all competitions. But that has not impacted the Napoli forward’s stock, with Liverpool, Manchester United, and PSG vying for his signature.
Liverpool’s interest in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is understandable. The Reds are scouring the market for a wide attacker amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Mohamed Salah. Even if Salah remains at Anfield, Darwin Nunez might not be at the Merseyside club beyond this term. So, Kvaratskhelia is an option worth considering for Liverpool.
As for Manchester United, Marcus Rashford faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford after becoming a peripheral figure in recent weeks. So, the Napoli attacker is a viable target, with the Red Devils establishing contact regarding a winter move. Manchester United might even pursue a swap deal involving Rashford and Kvaratskhelia.
However, Liverpool and Manchester United might be behind PSG to land the 23-year-old Georgian international, with The Athletic suggesting the Ligue 1 champions are the leading contenders to secure his services. So, it will be interesting to see where the Napoli star lands if he leaves the Serie A giants this month.
