Everton in transfer tussle to sign Jakub Moder

Everton will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old Polish midfielder Jakub Moder from fellow Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion this month.

According to a report by Caught Offside, Jakub Moder is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees have been scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the winter transfer window. So, the Brighton & Hove Albion utility man has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit, with the Seagulls ready to part ways with him this month.

How has Jakub Moder fared at Brighton & Hove Albion?

Jakub Moder has been a solid performer for Brighton & Hove Albion since arriving from Lech Poznan in 2020. The Premier League club initially secured the Pole’s services on loan in October 2020 before completing a permanent deal a few months later.

While the 25-year-old was a regular in his first few seasons with Brighton, his stock has fallen in the last 18 months after struggling with a long-term knee injury. Moder has barely featured for Brighton & Hove Albion this term, managing only 147 minutes of game time across five outings in all competitions thus far.

However, the player’s stock in the market remains high, with several Premier League and Bundesliga clubs setting their sights on him. In addition, the 31-cap Polish international has entered the final six months of his contract with Brighton, making him an attractive target. Everton will be one of his prospective suitors this month.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Everton’s interest in Jakub Moder is understandable. The Toffees have been scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the winter transfer window. With James Garner struggling with a back injury, Sean Dyche wants more from his midfielders, which has been lacking in Everton’s bid to remain in the Premier League.

So, several candidates, including Maxence Caqueret, have emerged on Everton’s radar, with Moder also a viable target. With the Pole entering the final six months of his contract with Brighton & Hove Albion, he can arrive at Goodison Park on a cut-price deal.

The Seagulls will not stand in the 31-cap Polish international’s way, adding to his appeal for Everton. However, the Merseyside club will face stiff competition from Leicester City, VfB Stuttgart, and SC Freiburg for the 25-year-old versatile midfielder.
