Arsenal are reportedly seeking to revive their interest in attacking pair Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko next summer.
According to Caught Offside, Arsenal are set to revive their interest in striker duo Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko. The Gunners have been interested in either forward in consecutive windows, with next summer probably representing their best chance to land the duo.
Arsenal are in the market for attacking reinforcements, as Mikel Arteta is considerably happy with his defence and midfield for the time being. There are injury issues in the squad, with key star Bukayo Saka out for a few months, while others have also been missing, such as Raheem Sterling and Ethan Nwaneri.
There are still chances of Arsenal doing considerable business in January, and they were interested in Matheus Cunha. The Wolves attacker has been in top form for relegation-threatened Wolves, although he’s unlikely to move this winter following a contract extension at Molineux.
Cunha’s new deal does come with a release clause, which will allow the Brazilian to move freely when the season ends, especially if Wolves end up getting relegated. In any case, Arsenal are expected to stay close to the situation as Arteta likes the Brazilian’s versatile profile.
Cunha could play in the wide areas as well as behind the striker or even as a No.9, which is something Arteta constantly looks for in transfer targets. The details of his release clause are currently unclear, but it will be on the higher side, as the Brazilian is one of the coveted stars in the Premier League at the current moment.
Arsenal to revisit the Benjamin Sesko case
As Cunha seemingly snubbed all his suitors in January by signing a new deal, something similar happened last summer with another target, Benjamin Sesko. The Slovenian was probably the only striker that Arsenal sought with all seriousness, and he chose to stay put at RB Leipzig over making a move elsewhere.
The Gunners are constantly monitoring his situation with intent as they wish to revive their interest when the season ends. Arsenal are looking for a new striker to provide a different option to Arteta compared to what he has in Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, as Sesko is seen as a definitive target for the north Londoners.
