Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in signing 27-year-old Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, the list of suitors pursuing Christopher Nkunku continues to grow. Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are keen on signing the Chelsea attacker, whose frustrations at the West London club are growing each week.
Christopher Nkunku and his frustrations
Christopher Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in a deal worth £52 million in July 2023. The Frenchman arrived at Stamford Bridge with a burgeoning reputation for being a productive attacker during his time in the Bundesliga. However, his progress has stuttered in the last 18 months due to fitness issues and intense rotation.
The 27-year-old has done his part, amassing 12 goals and four assists in 27 appearances across all competitions thus far this term. However, Nkunku has not been an undisputed first-choice starter in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions, which has left him frustrated. However, the player’s stock in the market remains high, with Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain vying for his signature.
A man in demand
Atletico Madrid will likely lose Antoine Griezmann after the 2024/25 season ends, with the former French international weighing up a new adventure. So, the Colchoneros should dip into the market for a new attacker, with the disgruntled Chelsea forward emerging as a viable target.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s interest in Christopher Nkunku is understandable. Thomas Muller is in the twilight of his career and approaching the end of his glittering playing days. So, Bayern Munich should plan for life after Muller, with the Chelsea attacker an option worth considering. With the Frenchman having previous experience in the Bundesliga, he should not take long to settle down at the Allianz Arena.
As for PSG, Randal Kolo Muani faces an uncertain future at Parc des Princes after struggling since arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt. In addition, Goncalo Ramos has blown hot and cold in the last 18 months. So, PSG should invest in a productive forward, with Chelsea attacker emerging as a viable target.
Chelsea would prefer to keep Nkunku beyond the winter transfer window amid his links with Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, and PSG. However, the player’s stance will play a part in the final decision, and it will be interesting to see if the 27-year-old French international leaves Chelsea this month.
