Liverpool have received a massive boost in their bid to keep hold of Trent Alexander-Arnold amidst interest from Real Madrid.
According to a report from Fichajes, Real Madrid are unlikely to succeed in their attempt to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold during the ongoing transfer window. Negotiations regarding a winter move have stalled, and Liverpool are now increasingly confident about extending his stay at Anfield.
Alexander-Arnold has been a key figure in the Liverpool first team for some time now. The 26-year-old is one of the first names on their team sheet under Arne Slot and he has played a massive part in their dominant run in the first half of the 2024/25 season.
While the English international has done most things right so far and he has six goal contributions in his 23 outings to show for it, Alexander-Arnold’s future has been a massive talking point for some time now.
His current deal runs out at the end of the season and he is now free to negotiate a pre-contract with any foreign club. While the Reds have been working on a renewal for some time, they haven’t succeeded yet.
Liverpool’s stance on Alexander-Arnold’s future
Real Madrid are well aware of his contract situation and they are looking to make the most out of it. Los Blancos want to bring in a new right-back for the long run. With Dani Carvajal out injured for the remainder of the season, Carlo Ancelotti wants a new full-back in January and his team are pushing to strike a deal in the ongoing window.
Alexander-Arnold is considered an ideal fit for their system as he has the attacking game to take them to the next level. The 26-year-old could be the perfect guy to take over from Caravajal. With the English full-back contract running out, Real Madrid are looking to make the most out of it.
Unfortunately, they haven’t made any progress and negotiations with the Reds have slowed down as they have no intentions of selling him mid-season given his importance to their team. While talks over a potential deal in January have reached a standstill, Liverpool are confident they can convince Alexander-Arnold to pen a new deal. The Merseyside club have recently offered him a lucrative five-year deal that could do the trick for them.
