Marcus Rashford salary an issue for AC Milan

AC Milan could face a wage issue in their pursuit of Marcus Rashford, as paying the Manchester United star even on a temporary deal will prove troublesome.

According to Sky Sports Italy, AC Milan faces a challenging prospect of signing Marcus Rashford owing to his wages. The Manchester United attacker is eager to exit the club although his current salary will prove prohibitive if he was to move on loan.

The Marcus Rashford saga threatened to consume Manchester United this month, as the club is eager to find a solution to what seems like a big problem. The homegrown star recently gave an interview wherein he expressed his desire to leave and has since found himself out of Ruben Amorim’s side.

Rashford remains one of the highest-paid stars at the club, and Manchester United are set to demand a significant fee if they are to sell him. The January window comes with its challenges when it comes to a permanent transfer, which could see the Red Devils consider a loan exit, particularly if an interest club are able to take on the €14 million-a-year salary the attacker draws.

His wages are already a problem for a few suitors, including Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, as AC Milan could face a similar issue. Milan is keen on Rashford, and for the time being, a loan move has been mooted for the Manchester United attacker.

Any possibility of a permanent transfer to the San Siro might be out of the question, although a loan deal comes with big challenges for the Rossoneri. They are not likely to be able to afford Rashford’s €14 million-a-year salary, as even half of it may not be possible.

AC Milan would need Manchester United’s help

Milan may not be able to afford even half of Rashford’s €14 million-a-year wages, although they could still sign the winger should Manchester United take the burden of a chink of his salary. The Red Devils had done such a deal before when they sent Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund last season on loan and paid a significant part of his wages.

Should the Red Devils deploy a similar strategy with Rashford, they could potentially aid AC Milan in their quest to sign the winger this month. Whether or not Manchester United are looking for a buy obligation in any loan remains to be seen, as Rashford has seemingly hinted at the prospect of staying out in Europe and not moving to another league like the one in Saudi Arabia.
