Arne Slot’s Liverpool are optimistic about reaching an agreement on a new deal with their mainstays Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
According to a report from the Mirror, Liverpool are confident about agreeing a new deal with both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. The Reds have been working on a renewal for a while now and they are finally close to reaching an agreement with their star duo.
While they are also working to extend the stay of their academy graduate Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Reds are not certain that they will be able to keep hold of him beyond this season.
The Merseyside club have been enjoying life under Arne Slot. The Dutch manager has got his idea across to the players without much difficulty and they are flying high in all competitions in Slot’s debut campaign in England.
Liverpool star trio’s contract renewal
While everything is going according to plan on the pitch, they do have a lot to think about in terms of the future of some of their key stars. Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold have been three of the best performers for Liverpool this season. All three of them have entered the final six months of their contract at Anfield and are free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club.
Meanwhile, the Reds are working hard to ensure they can keep hold of all three of them. With Real Madrid keen on signing Alexander-Arnold, the Merseyside club are not really sure if they will be able to hold onto the services of their academy graduate.
Los Blancos have been working hard to sign him on a free transfer and they are optimistic about striking a deal. Liverpool are sweating over their chances of keeping him despite having offered him a lucrative five-year deal. But, they are confident about agreeing on a new deal with both Salah and Van Dijk.
The Egyptian international is still going strong at 32 with 20 goals and 17 assists in his 26 outings. He has been the leader of their attack and keeping him around for a few more years does make sense. Meanwhile, Van Dijk also seems to be back at his best despite being 33. The duo have been offered two-year deals and are expected to put pen to paper in the near future.
